Searching for information. My uncle, Mason Clayton, was in I Co. of the 47th as a BAR gunner. I belive he was in 3rd platoon but not sure. He was wounded in Kothen by a German mortar. I just wanted to know the progression of battles. He doesn't talk about it...just wants to forget. I don't blame him. He was drafted in late Sep. 1944. I assume that would put him in Europe around December time. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

We met at IndianTown Gap BOB 27Jan12. My friend and I spent happy hours at the Devil's Den. Nice band and the members of the regiment were nice hosts. I have a few photos of the band and group that if you wish, I will send. Please send a good e-mail address. We are members of the Fort McHenry Guard reenactors of the 1814 ear. One of your group sugested we come for your time line held at your place in October (I think). Please send me any information about the event, what you would want us to do, how many would you like to attend, we have sailors (me and Manicle), artillary, citizens, (Male & Female) we could do almost anything that is needed. A group of us also do Civil War, Union and civilian. All uniforms are period correct and hand sewn. Same for the women's clothing for both periods. We wish to keep in touch.

I was with the 3rd 39th Infantry in Vietnam. I trained in Fort Riley, Kansas and went over with the Division in November 1966 to Bearcat.

Battalion Commander was LTC Richardson, later he became a four star.

On another note: My father was also with the 9th during WWII. He was also in the 3/39th just a different platoon. How often will that happen, father and son in the same unit just different conflicts.

I was in the 9th ID in Vietnam, and am interested in locating a reenactor group in the Chicagoland area. I met them at the reenactment in Lowell, IN. I would like to get in touch with them to find out when, where and how I join up with them.
Thank you for educating “We the People” about our Military.
